I don’t know why, but I find this video mesmerising. It shows the amount of airplanes in the air at any one time during a 24 hour period. If you concentrate on Europe, its amazing how the whole continent glows yellow during the day and then diminishes at night. A good start off place to debate the effects of flight on global warming/cooling.

I can’t remember where I saw it but there was a video like this recently showing how the flights to the UK were changing as the ash cloud moved around disrupting everything. It was amazing how clear the skies were with no planes in them and then how quickly they became blocked up when it all started moving again
