VW decided to show off their new Amarok pick-up in an unusual way recently as they showed off the vehicles power and grip by pulling down a 140-tonne steel chimney in Reading.
Normally a 40-tonne excavator would be used to demolish buildings like this but VW were given the opportunity to attempt it for the first time using a pick-up. Four pick ups were tied to the top of the 67 metre chimney using 200 metre ropes and then the 2.0 litre TDI engines were used to drove away pulling the chimney with it.
The pick up will be joining the current Volkswagen range of commercial vans and vehicles next week.
