Riga is the capital and largest city in Latvia and also the largest in the Baltic states and with over 700,000 people living here it is home to a third of Latvia’s total population.
It is considered to be the centre of industry, culture and finance for the Baltic Sea region. St. Peter’s Church is one of the main views you will see when looking at the skyline along with the huge Radisson Blu Hotel Latvija that also dominates the city. St. Peter’s Church is part of the ‘Old Town’ and it is a beautiful place that is a World Heritage Site.
Latvia is a growing country and since the 90’s it has become a strong place in it’s own right joining the United Nations, Nato and the European Union. Flights becoming cheaper have also added to a rampant increase in tourism with newly built city centre hotels adding to the varied Riga skyline.
